A Collaboration between Project Healthy Minds and Hudson Yards
On October 10, 2022, Hudson Yards' partnered with mental health nonprofit Project Healthy Minds to activate a robust day of learning, support and events in honor of World Mental Health Day. Hudson Yards served as the venue for the full day of programming, which kicked off in the morning with rides by SoulCycle that benefitted Project Healthy Minds. Wellness destination Equinox Hotel New York hosted a soothing sound bath meditation, as well as a VIP Brunch event with Equinox Hotels CEO Chris Norton. CityPickle, Hudson Yards' seasonal court dedicated to the sport of pickleball, facilitated pickleball matches that raised funds for charity.
Later in the day, supermodel and author Yolanda Hadid discussed grief and social media at an intimate fireside chat, while Bonobos Co-Founder and CEO Andy Dunn and Morning Brew Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Alex Lieberman led a fireside chat on the intersection of tech, business and mental health. Capping off the day's events, The Young People's Chorus of New York City gathered at Vessel to screen a film that explored the mental health of teenagers, featuring 15 new songs that chorus members composed during the pandemic. Throughout the day, select retailers donated a percentage of sales to World Mental Health Day. In support of the event, Related Cares additionally matched all employee donations to Project Healthy Minds.
For the day’s creative, we chose to take a decidedly different tone than most mental-health focused messaging. We had a massive platform to make an impact, we needed our tone and our creative to be as loud and engaging as the landscape. We drew our creative from the insight that no one’s mental health looks the same, and yet we can all agree that mental health is a universal experience.
Though we all have different ways of experiencing and coping with mental health, one thing is clear: it doesn’t get better unless we give a sh*t. Throughout the day, we offered a variety of ways to give a sh*t about their mental health - from exercise and learning to eating nourishing foods - which allowed us to create an accessible event while still keeping the messaging fun and cheeky.
